Climate tests for electrically power assisted bicycles
1. Scope
The test methods to determine the effects of condensation and the effects of
changes of temperature on the basic functioning of electrically power assisted
bicycles.
2. Standard ambient conditions
Environmental conditions of 20 °C ± 5 "C and relative humidity of 60 % ± 20 %
3. Test methods
3.1 General
Conduct the tests specified in 3.3 to 3.7 in the following sequence:
3.2 Requirements
The electrically power assisted bicycles shall continue to function according to
the manufacturer's specifications after being subjected to each of the tests
specified in Sections 3.3 to 3.7
When the electrically power assisted bicycles is tested as specified in Clause 3.3
to 3.7:
(a) it shall meet the requirements of the functional check specified in Section 4;
(b) no driven part shall exhibit unintended movement during exposure to the
specified test conditions.
2.3 Cold operating conditions
(a) Store the electrically power assisted bicycle for not less than 20 h in
standard ambient conditions with the electrically power assisted bicycle
switched off.
(b) Carry out the functional check specifie d in Section 4.
(c) Leaving the electrically power assisted bicycle switched on, subject it to a
temperature of 25 ℃°C for not less than 3 h.

(d) Inspect the electrically power assisted bicycle for evidence that any driven
part has moved.
(e) Within 5 min, after completing the functional test in (d).
3.4 Hot operating conditions
(a) Store the electrically power assisted bicycle for not less than 20 h in
standard ambient conditions with the electrically power assisted bicycle
