Electrically power assisted bicycles- Test method of travelling distance



1. Application range: the test is prepared for the electrically power assisted bicycles-
Test method of travelling distance by the test machine.

2. Definition of travelling distance: The maximal distance that the electrically power
assisted bicycle moves when been driven on the test machine during the
operation of the assistance system after the attached charger fully charges the

battery of the electrically power assisted bicycle.

3. Test machine: the test machine tests the output of the electrically power
assisted bicycle according to the driving torque and the rotation number of the
roller after the driving wheel of the electrically power assisted bicycle is
disposed on the roller to transmit the rotation force of the driving wheel to the

roller (the test machine is as shown in Fig. K1).

4. Equivalent inertia mass: the test machine simulates that the test technician sits
on the electrically power assisted bicycle to measure the mass needed for
generating the inertia force when the electrically power assisted bicycle is
driving on the road. The mass should be adjusted by the flywheel installed on

the roller of the test machine.

5. Test condition:

a) The temperature of the test environment is 23±5℃.

b) Please adjust the air pressure of the tire to the regulated value before the test.

c) The battery of the electrically power assisted bicycle provided for test is fully
charged by the attached charger of the electrically power assisted bicycle; the
surrounding temperature when the battery is being charged is set as 23±5℃.

6. Types of test method: there are three test methods for testing the travelling
distance of the electric assisted bicycle, including continuously driving over

uphill road of 2°, continuously driving over uphill road of 4° and continuously
driving over uphill road of 6°. Please refer to Table 1 for the information about
the speed-changing positions of the speed and speed-changing devices.
